Spreading the Word about Fav Books

By DiAnn Mills @DiAnnMills

As readers, many of us finish a novel or nonfiction book and post a review on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, CBD, Goodreads, LifeWay, Mardel, etc.

In addition to reviews, many of us post our opinions about a title on social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram or Twitter. Still others choose word of mouth to recommend or de-recommend book titles. The fact is, we have our favorite genres and writers, and we want others to share in the adventures we’ve enjoyed.

One way to help share news about our latest favorite read is through the use of Hashtags. On social media sites this can be enhanced with a word or phrase proceeded by #(pound sign) which makes the message identifiable with a specific topic or theme and in turn is clickable/searchable on social media platforms.

No matter how we choose to express our feelings about a book, the use of a specific hashtag is a way to reflect our emotions and recommendations. Hashtags are simple and easy to use. What does this mean for you as a reader?

One of the ways I’ve used hashtags and encourage readers to do the same is to simply turn the book title into a hashtag. For example, #DeadlyEncounterNovel or #DeepExtractionNovel. But to help readers of the romance genre find great books free of offensive language or explicit sex, consider using the hashtag #CleanRomance when sharing about a related novel, whether a DiAnn Mills title or another author whom you respect and admire 🙂

By using a hashtag of #CleanRomance, other readers can benefit from your insight and should they purchase the book can be assured they won’t be offended. Use of hashtags can help place those titles in a special searchable category.

Here are some examples of how to use #CleanRomance next time you post something on your favorite social media platform:

Have you read DiAnn Mills’ latest book? #DeepExtractionNovel is a #CleanRomance https://diannmills.com/books/deep-extraction/

OR

I finished Just Look Up by Courtney Walsh. What a sweet #CleanRomance. Kept me glued to the page. https://www.tyndale.com/search?q=Just+Look+Up #reading

OR

The Promise of Breeze Hill is my fav genre #HistoricalFiction By Pam Hillman. This book is a #CleanRomance https://www.tyndale.com/search?q=Promise+of+Breeze+Hill&f=

How do you use #hashtags in sharing your opinions of great reads?
