Today is National Author’s Day, and whether you are a reader, writer, or both, it’s a good reason to show an author that you care. Books thrill, inform, inspire, educate, entertain, show us new cultures, and how people lived in historical eras. We can do none of this unless we have authors who will learn how to write and do it well.
How can you celebrate the day? Here are a few ideas.
Google your favorite author.
- Locate that author’s website or social media platforms. Use one of those social networks to thank the author for creating such wonderful books.
- Subscribe to the author’s blog or newsletter.
- Follow the author on your favorite social media platforms.
- Offer to be a beta reader or join their launch team.
- Tell others on social media why you enjoy the author’s books.
Invite friends for coffee or lunch
- Suggest new authors.
- Have a free book exchange.
- Discuss starting a book club and how to ensure the meetings are fun and exciting.
- Research the life of your favorite author(s) and share the information.
- Volunteer to read at a nursing home or for shut-ins.
Read the authors who thrill you.
- Do you have a book by a favored author that you haven’t read?
- Consider a trip to a public or church library.
- The bookstore is always glad to see enthusiastic readers.
- Write and post reviews to show your appreciation.
- Recommend the author and books to others.
Take the writing challenge.
- Have you wanted to write but didn’t think you had the tools to create a quality manuscript? Now is the time to begin.
- Make a list of where you can find training, support, and encouragement.
- Schedule time to learn how to write.
- Schedule time to write.
- Read the bestsellers and use those books like a textbook.

Thank you, Michelle, your kind words encourage me!
I love your newsletters because of all the many subjects you mention and duscuss. You are a favorite author and friend. God has blessed you richly and we are blessed to know you.
Linda, you made my day! Thank you so much!
Love your books DiAnn Mills.
Nobody seems to write books with the background being from Wisconsin or the setting of the
book from Wisconsin. It’s a great state to be from.
Nancy, thank you! Maybe you should write a book set in Wisconsin? Or maybe I need to visit your state. 🙂
Thank you, DiAnn, for your dedication to create great reads for your fans, and for your insightful tips for us authors who are striving to follow in your footsteps.
Happy Author’s Day!
Luci, Thank you so much for your kind words!

I trust you know that you’re one of my favorite authors Ms. DiAnn. While I have a great many I enjoy, few can stir the full range of emotions you do with story. God’s blessings, and Happy Author’s Day ma’am.
J.D. you always have the right words to put a smile on my face. Be blessed in your writing and all you create for others to enjoy.
