Summer . . . We love every minute, every smell, every sound, every touch, every memory, and especially the tastes that only summer brings from watermelon to hotdogs. Close your eyes and dream of beaches, barbeques, picnics, family vacations, special fun with friends, back porches, lightning bugs, dreams of yesterday’s summers, and lots of lazy days.
This time of year, we embrace summer fun, and here are a few quotes to remind you June through August means drinking up the sunshine and enjoying the outside.
“If you’re not barefoot, then you’re overdressed.” –Unknown
“A life without love is like a year without summer.” –Unknown
“Spring being a tough act to follow, God created June.” –Al Bernstein

“The tans will fade but the memories will last forever.” –Unknown

I have a shirt that reflects on of those quotes, “The tans will fade but the memories will last forever.” I love all the quotes because I love summer. It may get hot, but at least it’s not cold!

I do. And Porgy and Bess was my first opera. We lived in St. Louis at the time and saw it in an outdoor venue. I was hooked from then on, especially with “Summertime”.

Summer is enjoying hand-cranked ice cream under the black walnut tree at your grandparents farm.

Joyce, we had a black walnut tree. And I love hand-cranked ice cream. We could have a party.
Sitting on the front porch in the early morning, catching a breeze before the sun turns hot. Smelling sweet honeysuckle and the lemony fragrance from blooming magnolia blossoms. Reading as I rock and sip sweet iced tea. Ain’t nothin’ better!
