We all have songs that the words and music speak to us, encourage us to be better people, or meet us right where we are. I have many favorites from my childhood to the present. “Amazing Grace” by John Newton is classic as well as “What a Friend We Have in Jesus” by Joseph M. Scriven, and “It is Well with My Soul” by Horatio Spafford.
What about you? What song or songs touch your spirit?

Building a snowman is a favorite winter pastime for those where there is snow. Librarians can share in the same enthusiasm by creating a display and even a contest that features marshmallows. And these don’t melt! Looking for ideas? Check out this Pinterest board: http://bit.ly/2iW4vdT

Diann I love all these songs I was not sure on the Andrews song but then recognized it after I started listening. There are so many new Christian songs that touch my heart. But my mind in blank now, I love the more mainstream Toby Mac songs not the rappy ones…. Saw him last year in concert it was GREAT!
Mine is “I’m no longer a slave to fear! It is right up my alley. God is fighting for me,
and this song helps to spur me on.
Francis, I so agree with you!
My fave list for 2016 is
Breathe by Johnny Diaz
Tell your Heart to beat again by Danny Gokey
Priceless by For King and Country
Move (keep Walking)by Toby Mac
Run Devil Run by Crowder
Alone by Hollyn
Trust in you Lauren Daigle
Never to far gone by Jordon Feliz
Beloved by Jordon Feliz
Walk on Water by Family Force 5 and hillsong
Praise you in this storm by Casting Crowns
Just be held by Casting Crowns
Hi Elizabeth, thanks so much for sharing your list!
Hi DiAnn. I love the songs on your list! One other song that I do like is “Rise” by Danny Gokey. Christian music artists are such a blessing!
Great list! My two favorites are:
“Oceans” by Hillsong
“Trust in You” by Lauren Daigle https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n_aVFVveJNs
Thanks, Paulette. Oceans is an amazing song.
Thanks for sharing this list. Love them all!
Thanks, Marcia!
Great selection. Love them. I would add Tell Your Heart to Beat Again by Danny Gokey and Flawless by MercyMe. Love CCM music.
Thanks Mary, those are great additions.
Hi Mary, those are great additions! Thanks.
You have some of my favorites listed DiAnn. Francesca Battistelli- Write your Story is my go to for writing motivation.
Stacy, that’s a great song. Also, a great one to play at a writer’s conference.
Love your choices! One of my most recent favs is Chainbreaker by Zach Williams.
Thanks Julie, that’s another winner.
l have dozens of favorites! Seems like almost every song that comes on KSBJ here in the Houston area is one l say, “I love this song!” Especially the Praise and Worship songs. Those lift me up, bring me into His presence.
I must admit l have finally reached the age where l hear myself saying, “What are those words? l didn’t understand.” One of the DJs said a listener had called in, asked about the phrase, “cheese grater” in a song. The DJ said the words are, “He’s greater.” How about the one where the male singer asks God to, “Give me Your ahs.” Took me hearing the song a couple times to realize he was saying, “eyes”.
l think it’s a trick to get us to listen closer to the words. There are some songs l cry through no matter how many times l hear them. Every time l’m reminded how much He suffered–that He CHOSE to die–because of my/our sins so we could be reconciled with God and live with Him forever in Heaven, l cry. His sacrifice means we can be His children for eternity.
I got off the subject. Sorry! (You know how l get, DiAnn. 😉 )
All y’all have a Terrific Tuesday!!
Hi Jann, that would make a great blog about listening, really listening to the words of our favorite songs.
