What was highlighted for me from your list & I think I would be interested in are new book releases and giveaway & reader Q&A or AMA (Ask Me Anything). Also, what about highlighting some of your older books?
Sarah, those are tremendous ideas. Thank you so much!
I’m looking to understand three main topics
1) Plot and structure: how to organize a novel, and what tools do you use to maintain consistency throughout the novel, with research notes.
2) character development: Going beyond simply their character, but using the scene (clothes, cars, friends) to describe them.
3) Point of View: I heard Peggy Sue Wells do a podcast on the nine POVs, and when to use them, but I cannot find a book to cover that topic.
Hi Philip, email me at diann@diannmills.com and I can give you resources.
Diann,
I’ve been a faithful reader since first meeting you at a Writer’s Conference in the Carolinas. Your writing ministry is powerful. So many Christians are now writing and self-publishing. Your insights are valuable for us all. All the topics you listed would be helpful. I am now publishing my fifth mystery novel Mystery at Wycham Manor following publication of A Widow’s Love Story in August. I continue to be a writer-in-progress benefiting from your wisdom.
Judith, thank you for your kind words. Congratulations on your writing success. I’m humbled to be a part of your writing and publishing journey.
I like suggestion #3. I would like to know famous quotes with the explanation. I also like human interest stories about someone overcoming a trial and how God helped them do it.
Author
Linda, great ideas and thank you! I added them to my list.
I would enjoy a updates on the writing world and easy recipes, especially crock pot or instapot…
Author
Thanks, Jennifer. Let me see what I can do!
DiAnn, you always look fabulous, fit, and happy! I’d love to hear some of your secrets for staying energetic and productive–especially overcoming procrastination or incorporating time management in your work. Thanks for your continued inspiration!
Author
Oh, thank you, Nancy. That would be a fun topic to write!
I like #4, #6, #15, and #16. All great topics. Looking forward to them.
Author
Thanks, Gail! I appreciate you.
What you are reading, humor and what you are writing would be awesome. I would also enjoy a devotional. Thank you so much for the opportunity. God bless you.
Author
Thank you, Debra. I’m adding your suggestions to my list.
These are all great topics, and I look forward to reading more about them in future posts! Like another person said, I would love to read about a day in your life every once in a while. Thank you!
Author
Thanks, Kimberly! I appreciate you and your suggestion.
New book releases and giveaways. They are all good though. Enjoy your newsletters.
Author
Thanks, Joan, and you are entered in this week’s giveaway!
I would most be interested in 1, 2, 4 and 10 from the list above. I’m really looking forward to your webinar this Thursday.
Author

DiAnn,
I like the variety of topics you include on your blog. As a writer, I would like to read more of your Behind the Scenes Insights and thoughts on the Writers Life. Important updates on the publishing world would be helpful too. Thank you for inviting our feedback!
Author
Thanks, Michelle, I just added your suggestions to the list! I appreciate you.
Hi DiAnn,
One of the things I like about your blog is the eclectic nature of it. The way you cover lots of different topics and your infectious enthusiasm comes across every time. I like Elizabeth’s idea above. Also like hearing the behind the scenes faith stories that work their way into a writers work, so lessons learned from characters, or the lessons you learn in real life that end up in your writing. (I find that process fascinating!)
All the best as you keep writing in 2025!
Author
Hi Penny, you are so encouraging! Thank you. Your great suggestions are now on my list!

Author
Thanks so much, Joyce. I appreciate your encouragement.
Hi, DiAnn:
The topics in your list cover many interesting subjects. I wonder if the Spiritual and Inspirational blog will include ways to incorporate Scripture texts within writing fictional works. Also, addressing how to market books with needed topics (such as written prayers as a way to encourage readers to develop their prayer life, become more comfortable praying, using the book as a guide to increase one’s prayer experience) as it seems most people do not truly know how to pray and are afraid they will do it wrong.
Thanks,
Dennis
Author
Dennis, wow – great ideas. Thank you. Odd you should mention writing from a Christian worldview. I’m working on a book: The Art of Writing Suspense that includes how to use the literary techniques of writing fiction for the Christian novel.
And prayer . . . You are so right that some people don’t know how to pray. Some years ago, I was out of state and encountered a woman weeping. I asked if I could pray for her. She said, “I’m trying to pray, but a friend told me I must use the right words and the right posture or God wouldn’t hear.” I’ve never forgotten the woman, and I wasn’t able to convince her that God hears the heart. Thanks for the reminder.
Your list looks great. Along with recipes maybe share some memories about meals that connect you with people you care about.
On you list I would say Number 12 through 15 interest me the most.
Author
Thanks, Susan! I hadn’t thought about how meals are memory-makers. I’m adding your suggestions to the list.
especially #’s 3,4,7,11,14, 15 but all sound fun!
Pet pictures and stories
Author
Thanks, Linda! I’m adding your suggestions to the list.
All of these topics sound wonderful. I love reading your blog. I am especially interested in the inspiration for your characters and the research you do to write a novel. I love getting new recipes. I also enjoy when an author recommends a book.
Author
Thanks, Kerri. I’m adding your suggestions to the list. I appreciate you!
These are all great and there are enough topics to be diverse and not repeat too often. Seems like everything is covered. Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us. I love your blog.
Thanks, Paula, and you are entered in the giveaway! I appreciate your reading my blog.
Maybe add a category and occasionally share “a few of my favorite things”. Maybe that could be a store, product, craft, type of get-together, restaurant, museum, historical home or site, national or state park, etc. Just things that you enjoy! I would add recipes, but I’m glad to see them on your list.
Thanks, Perrianne, I’m adding those items to my list.
It all sounds fun. Just love hearing from you.
Author
Thanks, Gayle, I appreciate you!
I’d love to read about your research and characterization eat . Also I love quotable things and one of my favorite things when I am on the launch team, or even a book I have really enjoyed, is to do quote Meme’s.
Let’s just say #4, #7, #13 are a few other interesting things I’d love to hear about.
Author
Thanks, Laura, I’m adding those to my list!
I like life hacks you have come across.
Author
Thanks, Susie, I’ll be on the lookout for life hacks!
Maybe every once in a while just a day in your life post. Tell us what you’re up to, how you’re feeling, struggles, how we can pray for you.
Author
Thanks, Elizabeth, that is a wonderful idea. Thank you so much!
While any of these topics are of interest, I would most like to know what you have learned from your characters as you write their stories.
That’s up there. 😊
Author
Teresa, I really like that idea. May be my next post. Thank you!
