Welcome to Author Spotlight and Patricia Bradley, featured Christian suspense author for January!

Honoring God with her writing is USA Today Best-Selling author Patricia Bradley’s goal in life. Her novels have won a Selah and a Reader’s Choice Award and were ACFW Carol and Daphne du Maurier award finalists.

She and her two cats call Northeast Mississippi home, and the South is also where she sets most of her novels. Her seventeen novels include four romantic suspense series: The Logan Point Series, the Memphis Cold Case Novels, the Natchez Trace Park Rangers, and the Pearl River Series. Both Fatal Witness and Deadly Revenge (released in 2024), the second and third books in the Pearl River Series set in the Cumberland Plateau area above Chattanooga, were ECPA (The Evangelical Christian Publishers Association) Best Sellers.

Bradley is a popular keynote speaker and teacher at writing conferences. She is also co-founder of Aiming For Healthy Families, an organization dedicated to giving teens and their parents the tools necessary to combat the myriad of problems associated with high-risk behaviors. When she’s not writing or speaking, she likes to throw mud on a wheel to see what comes out.

There’s nothing better than having more insight into our favorite authors. So I asked Patricia a few questions.

Q: What is your home state? Hmmm. I was born in Tennessee and lived there until I was twenty, then moved to Mississippi and have been here even longer, so I’m not sure which one to claim…both are great states!

Q: What is your superpower? High energy, thanks to my ADHD—I’m like the Energizer Bunny. It’s one reason I don’t take medication for my ADHD—tried it once and my energy disappeared…although for the first time ever, my brain was calm. Maybe a little too calm for a suspense writer…

Q: What is your favorite vacation spot? Florida…anywhere, but particularly Ocala and also South Florida. Right now it’s 80° in the daytime there while it’s about 40° in Mississippi…I’m thinking about becoming a snowbird.

Q: What is your favorite genre? Romantic suspense. I’ve been reading suspense since reading the Black Stallion when I was ten, then it became romantic suspense when I read Airs Above the Ground.

Q: Do you have a hobby?

For years I would’ve answered with “throwing clay on a wheel and seeing what comes up,” but now I’m focused on learning to fly—it is my new love.

Q: What are you reading? Nancy Mehl’s latest, Dark Design. I only read at night and last night I kept saying to myself, “Just one more chapter…” until 2 a.m.

Q: Any other special interests? I love to work out at the gym and do Pilates. I used to love swimming, but there’s no indoor pool in my hometown so I had to find alternatives. lol
