Private Investigator Nicole Weatherly, hired to catch a thief, suspects Reg, her past boyfriend. A former FBI agent, she’s been on a mission to solve her father’s murder, unwilling to let anyone get her in her way. Not even the FBI. When the bullets fly, she and Reg are forced to work together to find the answers before someone else dies.
There’s nothing better than having more insight into our favorite authors. So I asked Elizabeth a few questions.
Q: What is your favorite hobby?
A: Honestly, between writing deadlines and caring for my special needs son, I don’t have a lot of time for hobbies. Usually if I have free time I like to read. Ha ha! That said, recently I decided I wanted to learn how to make sourdough bread. I enjoy the experience and look for new things to learn. I consider it an artistic experience outside of writing, especially the part where I can create designs on the boules and batards. The great news is that my family can enjoy my hobby by eating what I create.
Q: Do you have a favorite genre?
A: Romantic suspense! I love reading widely–historical, contemporary, science fiction and fantasy–and I especially love any genre that includes romance and suspense.
Q: Any other special interests?
A: I live in the Pacific Northwest and enjoy walking and hiking in the gorgeous woods, rainforest and on the rocky beaches. I’m also a volunteer with Special Olympics swimming since my son is in that program.
Q: What do you like the most about writing?
A: I love the process of coming up with potential ideas set in stunning locations. Then when the novel is written, I’m usually so surprised with how the story turned out. The idea of an entire story coming to life from my imagination fascinates me. It’s like creating something out of nothing, and in a way, similar to the sourdough bread I mentioned. For the bread, you just need flour and water and time to create something amazing that can be devoured and enjoyed. In the case of a novel, you need your imagination and to transfer what’s in your head onto the page, and you’ve created something to be devoured and enjoyed!
Q: What is your least favorite part of writing?
A: All the fun stuff is in the beginning when I’m imagining and creating in my mind, but getting what’s in my head onto the page (as mentioned previously) can be grueling. It takes time and a lot of “blood, sweat and tears” as I work to create the story, and then go back multiple times to polish and edit it into a publishable manuscript. To sum it all up, writing a novel is labor intensive and it’s the actual work part of this process that is my least favorite.
Q: What do you want readers to know about you?
A: How about this fun fact? Years ago when I was trying to learn if God had called me to write, I registered for my first writing conference at ACW and signed up for an appointment with DiAnn Mills! I was encouraged by our conversation, and I continued on this writing journey. Much thanks to you, DiAnn, for encouraging aspiring writers!
