11 Ways to Say I Love You on Valentine’s Day That Won’t Break the Bank

By DiAnn Mills @DiAnnMills

Since the 14th century, Valentine’s Day has been celebrated as a time of romantic love. But let’s face it, candy, flowers (roses), exquisite restaurants, get-away weekends, and one-of-a-kind gifts can blow our budget. Even paying for a babysitter is expensive.

This week, I have your back. Here are 11 ways to say, “I Love You”, that are either free or require only a few dollars.

1 – Explore videos – 23 Valentine’s Day Movies People Never Get Bored Of

2- Listen to romantic music. If you don’t have a music library to build a playlist, here are two selections from YouTube:
Beautiful Love Songs 2018 Collection – Best Valentine Love Songs Ever
Happy Valentine’s Day Songs 2018 – Best Romantic Love Songs of All Times

3- Send e-cards. Most all of us have a subscription to e-cards. Send several: some sweet, some funny. Or send one each hour.

4- Discover your special someone’s love language then arrange your celebration around it. Our thoughts of what displays love to us may not be the same as our loved one. Not sure what languages are? Dr. Gary Chapman lists the love languages as:

– Words of affirmation
– Quality time
– Receiving gifts
– Acts of service
– Physical touch

5- Create love notes and leave them where your loved one will find them. Need ideas for those missives? http://www.avalentinesdayquotes.com/

6- Bake a cake. Nothing says love like something made from our own hands—or a boxed mix. Use a heart-shaped pan or sprinkle ready-made candies on a round or rectangle cake. Check with Pinterest for easy Valentine Cake ideas.

7- Take a stroll through Pinterest for Valentine’s Day ideas to show your love.

8- Give of your time. Ask your loved one what he/she would like to do on Valentine’s Day. Don’t cringe—the action shows your love, even if it’s not your favorite.

9- Treat your loved one to a singing telegram. Most of us know someone who is a great singer. See if that person will show up at your loved one’s front door and surprise him/her by singing one or two love songs. I did this for my husband one year, and it was so cool to see his reaction.

10- Request a walk in the park and tell your loved one how much he/she means to you.

11- Pray for your loved one. This needs to be every day, not just on Valentine’s Day.

What are more ways we can celebrate Valentine’s Day on a budget? Let’s share!
