The good times of our lives are the super memory-makers. We take photos, fill scrapbooks, and tell the world through social media about our good fortune.
Then the downside of life hits us square in the face. Where did this come from? I thought my job was secure. My kids made great choices until now. Divorce – what did I do wrong? Hey, Doc, is my cancer curable? Our very souls tremble with the devastation. We wonder why and sometimes we’re angry at God and the world.
Smiles turn to tears.
Optimism slams into a wall of negativity.
Fatigue and a churning in our stomachs can leave us unable to perform the simplest of tasks.
In Deep Extraction, FBI Special Agent Tori Templeton lived in fear of those she loved being diagnosed with cancer. Her brother had suffered and died with the dreaded disease. Now her partner is facing the big C diagnosis. How can she continue her job when fear stalks her? But life gives her a huge perk and her fears are diminished.
How can we gain a perk, find a little peace and good news? Think back to the last time you walked through a valley of despair. How did you cope? Ignore it in hopes it would disappear? Found tools to help you manage the problem? Became more spiritual?
Too many times when the trials pass, we fail to evaluate the situation. In truth, we become stronger people and are able to help others through our school of experience. If you’re a survivor, take a look around you and see who you can help.
If you would like for me to pray for you, send me your request in an email to diann @ diannmills . com
What about you? Where do you find peace in disturbing times?
Please note we are still awaiting confirmation from recent giveaway recipients and hope to announce winners in next week’s blog post.

I pray & praise the Lord. He is good at all times. I also just fall back into Him, just by soaking in His goodness through outside, church family & resting.
Hi, Lisa, thanks for sharing your heart.
I admit it: I allow myself some Pity Party time. Groan, moan, wail, bawl like a baby, gnashing of teeth (not really, I just like that phrase).
When my time is up for the Pity Party I spend time breathing. Breathe In. Breathe Out. Breathing and focusing on Yeshua, the Messiah.
One way I worship Adonai is by singing to Him. To be closer to God when I’m having troubles I listen to Praise and Worship music. That always lifts me up.
I pray. No fancy words. Just talking, telling Him how I’m feeling. I’ve yelled at Him. It’s all right, He’s a Big God, He can handle it.
Then I lay in my Father’s arms until I have the strength to go on. He doesn’t take away what I’m experiencing, He never said He would. I know without a doubt He’s walking right beside me every step of the way.
Eventually the circumstances change, they have to. And again my Lord and Savior is right beside me. Always.
Hi, Jann, I appreciate your honesty! We all fall to the bottom, but it is our God who lifts us up. Thank you!
DiAnn, I received my wonderful prize pack. If I was supposed to confirm I missed that message. After reading this I’m more excited about reading Deep Extraction.
I find peace in prayer, classical music, praise music, nature and playing the piano.
Thank you for your words.
Hi, Daphne, so glad you are enjoying your prize pack. The first names of winners will be announced in next week’s blog! Thank you for posting.
We all go through tough times. I turn to my Bible because God knows me and He know what I’m going through. I can trust Him with my problems. I supplement the Word of God with much prayer and supplication asking for guidance and direction. Christian music helps to calm me down.
Hi, Patti, I commend you on sharing what is biblically true for all of us facing difficulties. Thank you!
Hi DiAnn, I also listen to worship music and sing to my dishes and soap bubbles. I read the Word and pray to our Father in Heaven. I look for the lesson in the trial for there is always something to learn and share from each one. I choose to follow God’s guidance that I find in His Word. God is good and He always has the best in mind for everyone.
Hi, Susan, I believe King David in the Bible understood the power of music and glorifying God. Thank you!
Romans 8: 28-39….. nothing can separate us from the love of God. And ” I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”. It is all God who “does” it! Praise Him. If it were up to me I would fail!
Thanks, Paula, I appreciate your reminder of that wonderful verse and promise.
Psalm 46:10, Be still. And know. That *I* am God.
Psalm 23, He leads me beside still waters…
Thanks, Robin, now, if we can only listen instead of talking.
I pray. I give thanks for the blessings I’ve been given and then pray some more.
Thanks, Kathleen, our communion with God is our sustaining force. I appreciate your post.
When I’m in trials I try to double my time with the LORD, if possible. I dig into the Word deeper, I play my praise and worship louder and I call or email my prayer buddies and ask them to pray. Also, I ask the LORD what He wants me to learn from this trial since He is allowing me to go through this! When it is over I share what the LORD taught me from this tough time. I don’t ever want to waste a trial!!!!
Hi, Vee, I value your method to find peace. The Bible is filled with guidance when we need help if we will only listen and follow Him.
I love to listen to music when I am going through a tough time. Something about lifting hands in praise let’s me know that I might be suffering, but Jesus is walking with me through the storm. His love never fails!
Hi, Phyllis, music is one of my soothing ways to work through problems and focus on God. Thank you for your comments.
