May 8, Mother’s Day, will soon be here. I’m issuing you a challenge. This year plan a celebration your mother or the woman you honor as mother never forgets. Today’s blog will give you a few ideas to make this momentous occasion truly special.
Generation Celebration
Invite the generations of mothers in your family to a special dinner in their honor. Showcase past photos and take new ones. Don’t forget the cake!
- Hint: Older women tire quickly so ensure the time together doesn’t wear them out. Perhaps a brunch would be more appropriate.
Movie Time
Mothers and grandmothers are usually stuck watching children while other family members attend movies. Or the movie choice is never her idea. Purchase a gift card with popcorn and a drink. Mom picks out what she wants to view.
- Hint: Follow up with a meal out.
Museums
Check for the latest exhibits at Mom’s favorite museum and accompany her. Don’t complain about what she experiences as wonderful and entertaining.
- Hint: Research museum opportunities beforehand so Mom won’t be overwhelmed.
Pamper Mom
Pamper mom with a gift card to her favorite spa. Don’t forget to include the tip!
- Hint: Arrange a limo to transport your mother both ways.
Photo Puzzle
Take a family picture from the past and have it made into a photo puzzle.
- Hint: Personal Creations does a super job. http://bit.ly/1qO8PiB
Pinterest Board
Is your mother a Pinterest fan? Create a secret board just for her and other family members. Be creative. Pinterest has tons of Mother’s Day ideas for not only her secret board but also other ways to celebrate the day. https://www.pinterest.com/kellyworth78/celebrations-mother-s-day-ideas/
- Hint: Enlist other members of the family for this project.
Plan a Picnic
Create a unique picnic with those things that are near and dear to Mom’s heart. Does she love to travel? Have a country-themed picnic from Mexico or Hawaii or Ireland or a cruise. Decorate with colorful reminders of the picnic’s theme.
- Hint: The local dollar store has tons of inexpensive ways to make this happen.
Books
If your mother is a reader, find out her favorite authors and shower her with books or even an e-reader. She could love a good romance, mystery, suspense, or historical.
- Hint: Choose what Mom enjoys, not what you want her to read.
Scavenger Hunt
What about a scavenger hunt that leads Mom to a family celebration? Or a special gift?
- Hint: Make sure the details of the scavenger hunt meet with your mother’s physical requirements.
Shower with Flowers
Moms love flowers, whether a bouquet of beautiful blossoms or green plants. She’s sure to remember you every time she sees her plant.
- Hint: Make sure the flowers or plant is easy care, and Mom has a place for her gift.
Star of the Day!
Have mom the star of her own movie by making a video to present to her on Mother’s Day. Interview family members, young and old, and ask them to talk about their favorite memory.
- Hint: Children always have a sweet spin.
Write Mom a letter
Have you ever told your mother what she means to you? Heartfelt words along with recalling special memories will brighten her day. Don’t type the letter, but invest in pretty paper and use your handwriting.
- Hint: Practice writing what you’re going to say first. If you’re like me, my handwriting is really bad.
What are your plans for Mother’s Day?
Share them in a comment below for an opportunity to be entered in a random drawing for a Walking with God spiritual journal.
