Preparing Our Hearts for America’s 250th Anniversary

By DiAnn Mills @DiAnnMills

On July 4, 2026, the United States will celebrate its 250th birthday. Across the country, communities and families are planning grand celebrations.

  • Bands will play music that gets our feet moving and our voices singing.
  • Flags will wave proudly.
  • Homes and neighborhoods will glow in red, white, and blue.
  • Choirs will sing beloved patriotic songs.
  • Families will gather for photographs, parades, cookouts, and fireworks that light the night sky in breathtaking color.
  • And yes, there will be sweet memories made around picnic tables and backyard barbecues.

But amid the celebration, are we spiritually prepared with hearts full of gratitude, love, and renewed faith in God?

As the Fourth of July approaches, have we thanked God for blessing our nation? My hope is to encourage all of us to dedicate ourselves—and our country—to Him once again. When hearts are transformed, a nation changes from the inside out.

Many believers have spoken about praying during the quiet hours of early morning, especially at 3:00 a.m., as a time to seek God’s stillness, listen for His voice, and focus on repentance and spiritual renewal.

Two hundred fifty years later, will America remember the God who gave her liberty?

Here are a few organizations and ministries encouraging Americans to seek God wholeheartedly and reflect His love and grace during this historic season:

There will be many civic and church-sponsored ways to celebrate our nation’s birthday throughout the coming year and on July 4, 2026.

How do you plan to commemorate this historic occasion?
